- We recommend our customers to allow for 1/1.5 hours time for the visit.
- To customers who have booked the 3.30pm time slot we recommend visiting the Black Gate section of the castle first as it will close 30 minutes earlier than the Castle Keep.
Accessibility information:
- The Black Gate section of the castle is entirely wheelchair accessible.
- The Castle Keep is a Scheduled Ancient Monument with several upper storeys that do not allow for wheelchair accessibility.
- A video tour of the Castle Keep is available at ground level for disabled visitors unavailable to access the area.
Ticket restrictions:
- Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Dogs are not allowed inside the Castle, with the exception of guide dogs.
- Buggies and pushchairs can be parked in a dedicated area upon arrival.
The Newcastle Castle opening times are:
- Daily: 10:00am – 5:00pm (last admission at 4:00pm)
- Please note that Black Gate closes at 4:30pm while Castle Keep remains open until 5:00pm
