Windsor Castle opening times vary throughout the year, however the Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
March to October:
- Thursday - Monday: 10:00 am - 5:15 pm (last admission at 4:00 pm)
November to February:
- Thursday - Monday: 10:00 am - 4:15 pm (last admission at 3:00 pm)
Please note:
- Entrance to the State Apartments closes 30 minutes after the last admission time

Changes to normal opening hours
As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice.
St George’s Chapel
- St George’s Chapel is open on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday but it is not part of the visit on Sunday, when it is only open for worship
- Access to St George’s Chapel may be limited on busy days and during service
Semi-State Rooms
- During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route
- The Semi-State Rooms usually open from autumn-spring each year. They are currently open until spring 2025
Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House
- Access to Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House may be limited on busy days
