Using your pass
- Freely choose your desired travel days within the period of validity. Passes are available for 4 days within 8 days or 8 days within 15 days.
- The BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass is only available in Standard Class.
- You can activate your pass by clicking on the link received by email and selecting the first date of travel. Your pass is considered activated if the first and last day of validity is defined. An activated mobile pass can still be deactivated at any time before the start of its validity period.
- The BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass can be validated up to 6 months after the departure date you stated when ordering. Once validated (first use), the BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass is non-refundable.
- We recommend activating the pass close to the date of the intended first use to avoid issues caused by travel delays or last-minute changes.
- After activation and booking the first journey, you can either book the rest of the journeys you have already planned or book them closer to the date you intend to travel to avoid disappointment.

Travel validity
- Travel is valid Monday - Friday on trains departing after 9:15 am and on any service at the weekend
- This restriction does not apply to customers traveling on the following routes:
- Glasgow Queen Street - Oban / Fort Willaim / Mallaig
- Glasgow Central - Stranraer
- Inverness - Kyle / Wick / Thurso
- Direct services from Lockerbie to Carlisle, Carstairs, Motherwell or Glasgow Central

- ScotRail: All scheduled services in Scotland and services to and from Carlisle
- Avanti West Coast, Cross Country, London North Eastern Railway, First TransPennine Express: All scheduled services in Scotland and services to and from Carlilse and Berwick-upon-Tweed
Coach:
- Scottish Citylink / West Coast Motors: Oban / Fort William - Inverness, Oban - Campbeltown, Kyle of Lochalsh - Uig, Inverness - Ullapool
- Stagecoach East Scotland: Dundee / Leuchars - St Andrews
- First Scotland East: Melrose - Galashiels - Peebles - Edinburgh (Service 62), Carlisle - Langholm - Hawick - Galashiels - Edinburgh (Service X95)
- Stagecoach in the Highlands: Services onthe Isle of Skye (except any registered tours), Wick - John O’Groats, Thurso - John O’Groats, Thurso - Scrabster
Children information
- Children aged 5-15 pay half the adult fare. Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket
- The child passes will reflect the same type and duration of the adult and senior already chosen
Accessibility information
- To request assistance at the station you need to book it in advance - now up to 2 hours before your journey - by using Passenger Assist
- Passenger Assist booking will be then due to start, any time of the day of your choice and includes:
- a helping hand to navigate the station
- support when boarding the train
- assisting when transiting to the next train
- arranging a ramp on or off your train
- for non-visible impairments assistance
- carrying up to three items of luggage
- The train company you’re travelling with will organise assistance for your entire journey, no matter the company that runs the next train

Britrail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass restrictions
- Only unused and unvalidated BritRail passes are refundable within 11 months from the date of issuance although a 15% cancellation fee applies
- BritRail passes are not available to UK residents; this includes international students who are studying or have resided in the UK for more than 6 months
- A BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass cannot be modified or cancelled once downloaded and validated
- Buy a maximum of nine passes per order
- The BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Pass is unavailable in First Class
- The pass cannot be used to travel before 9:15am Mondays to Fridays, (except between Glasgow-Oban/Fort William/Mallaig and Inverness-Kyle/Wick/Thurso)
- BritRail Spirit of Scotland M-Passes’ holders can use the rail passes to board the most of the train services in Scotland except the following:
- Glasgow Underground
- Road links between Glasgow airport and railway stations
- Privately owned railways, tram links, steam services, nor any other services that are not run by National Rail
- Special excursions, ships or other Channel ferries, or coach services
- BritRail M-Passes are not valid on trains in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, or any other transport service not mentioned above
Additional information
- You will need to provide the full name of each passenger (except children under 5) as it is shown in their passport
- Once you choose a day of travel you would be able to use it from 00:00 hrs to 24:00 hrs (midnight to midnight) on a chosen day of travel
- When traveling on an overnight train containing sleeper accommodation, you are required to insert the next day’s date to avoid fines or pay full fare ticket
- Remember your passport, as you will not only need it to arrive in Britain but you will need to produce it along with your BritRail Pass as proof if asked by train staff
- You can use the BriRail M-Pass in coach services in Scotland:
- Scottish Citylink/West Coast Motors: Oban/Fort William – Inverness, Oban – Campbeltown, Kyle of Lochalsh – Uig, Inverness – Ullapool
