Accessible experience

Strawberry Field claims to be one of the most accessible attractions in the UK.

Highlights

  • Visit the interactive exhibition that tells interweaving stories of the children’s home, The Salvation Army, John Lennon’s childhood, and the writing and recording of Strawberry Fields Forever
  • Follow in John’s footsteps in the peaceful Strawberry Field garden, with the chance to see the original iconic red gates
  • Exhibition highlights include: The world-famous piano that John Lennon used to compose and record  Imagine, one of the great peace anthems of the 20th century. The piano, bought by George Michael in 2000 is on long loan, courtesy of the Estate of the late George Michael.
  • The complimentary media guide which accompanies the exhibition also includes the newly upgraded garden tour.
  • The garden tour uses soundscapes to offer you a chance to explore mindfulness and reconnect with nature.
  • In May 2023, music returned to the gardens of Strawberry Field with the new Strawberry Field Forever bandstand.  The technologically advanced bandstand is based on the drum featured on The Beatles’ iconic album cover on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The bass drum shape is a playful nod to the marching bands of The Salvation Army.
  • A 22ft (6.7m) Ukrainian Peace Monument has been unveiled at Strawberry Field in Liverpool during Eurovision Song Contest in May 2023 to stand temporarily until it is safe to move to its permanent home in the Ukraine.
